Commonly-asked questions about HACSA and housing issues

Is HACSA the same as HUD?
No; HACSA is the Housing Authority for Eugene, Springfield and Lane County. HUD (the US Department of Housing and Urban Development) is a federal agency that oversees a wide variety of housing issues, including but not limited to low-income housing.

As the local housing authority for Lane County, HACSA administers the Public Housing program and other low-income housing programs that are subsidized by HUD. HACSA also has other partners that are independent of HUD.

Does HACSA sell HUD homes?
No. If you are interested in purchasing a HUD home (a foreclosed home that HUD sells at market value), check out HUD's web page devoted to HUD homes.

Where can I get landlord-tenant advice and legal guidance?
HACSA does not provide legal guidance or mediation in landlord-tenant disputes. Check out our list of legal resources for landlords and tenants.

I'm a landlord and I want to rent to Section 8 tenants.
Please call our office at (541) 682-3755 (or TTY/TDD 682-3412 for hearing-impaired persons) and let the receptionist know that you have a unit or units that you wish to make available to Section 8 tenants.
