Agency waiting lists updated as of 05/01/2008, and since then Hit Counter people have checked the list.

Section 8 is now contacting applicants who applied in September, 2004.  (The S8 Waiting List is currently on hold.)

The S8 Waiting List closed October 3, 2005 until further notice.

Waiting lists for Public and Assisted Housing units - those HACSA own and maintain - have various waiting times according to bedroom size and location.  The time it may take to get a unit after attending a briefing can range from days to months, depending upon vacancy rates.  We attempt to maintain a reserve of pre-approved applicants to fill units as they come available.  However, we cannot predict when we will have vacancies.  For Outlying Areas, the waiting times for a one-bedroom unit range from months to more than a year; the shortest list is for Cottage Grove, followed by Junction City and Creswell.  The longest list for one-bedroom Outlying Areas is for Veneta.  The wait for one-bedroom units in Florence is impossible to predict, as we have very few vacancies at the Coast.

The following chart shows when we held our last briefing for each program by bedroom size and location.  The older the briefing date, the slower the list may be moving.  The Attendees' Application Date indicates the most recent application dates for those people who came to the briefing.  Again, once their applications have been approved, they may still wait anywhere from days to months before being placed in housing.  Their intake coordinator will let them know when a unit becomes available.

Footnotes indicate additional information at the bottom of this page regarding the different programs.

  1. The small number of Village Oaks and Fourteen Pines one-bedroom units rarely come available.  The wait can be years.
  2. We own a limited number of fully ADA-compliant Wheelchair Accessible Units of various bedroom sizes in different areas.  These units are offered first to existing tenants who demonstrate a need for the features.  New WCA units may be under construction at any given time, but the wait for these units can be quite long.  Nonetheless, we encourage anyone needing a fully accessible wheelchair unit to apply for this program.
  3. Two-bedroom and three-bedroom units outside of the Eugene/Springfield area are available only in Veneta and Florence.  These units rarely come available.  When a two or three-bedroom unit comes available in Veneta or Florence, we will contact those people with the oldest applications to see if they are still interested in housing.  Because applicants who have been on the list for a long time may no longer be interested or live in the area, people with recent applications may be invited to a briefing.  Briefings for Florence units are held at our Laurelwood Community Room in Florence.
  4. The wait for a Village Oaks two-bedroom unit is relatively short, often no more than a month or two.  This is because Village Oaks two bedroom units have a minimum rent of $391, which many applicants cannot afford, and a maximum income that many applicants exceed.  The wait for Village Oaks three-bedroom units can be longer because there are fewer of these units.  For more information about Village Oaks income limits, follow this link: Village Oaks rents and income limits
  5. We own 17 four-bedroom units.  These units are often offered to existing Public Housing families who need additional bedrooms.
